evo is this weekend so steam is doing a fighting game fest sale to celebrate. my chess piece bomb dropping action game chessplosion isn't part of the event because it's not a fighting game, but i discounted it by 50% this week anyway because:

  • it's made by an evo champion (me)
  • it has competitive multiplayer with rollback netcode for 2-4 players (which i coded between my matches during the evo tournament that i won)
  • it was the grand finals game at frosty faustings' mystery game tournament last year:

today is the one year anniversary of my game ducky's delivery service! i can't believe i released it a whole year ago...

ducky's delivery service is my tribute to 2D physics action games like balloon fight and kuru kuru kururin, along with the delivery gameplay that you see in games like crazy taxi, paperboy and break the targets (smash bros). it's an odd set of games to combine but it's exactly what i wanted to play, and if i didn't make the game i'd still be sitting around today wishing that it existed. i'm really happy with how the game turned out and i hope you like it too.

huge thanks to everyone who supported ducky's delivery service this past year by buying it on itch.io, steam or nintendo switch or by recommending it to your friends. it's nice to know i'm not the only person out there who appreciates this strange game concept, and it's great to have enough money to keep going while i work on my next game. i really need to officially announce that game soon, now that it's a whole year into development...

anyway, it's been a long time since i played ducky's delivery service myself so i'm curious how rusty i've gotten. i thought that the 4 star score thresholds and the S rank times were pretty easy back when i was making the game, but i'm sure i'll struggle to get them today. so i'm going to give it a try now, live on stream! feel free to say hi!

When I was making Ducky's Delivery Service I found myself doing a lot of manual single color pixel art anti-aliasing, in a predictable way that could be automated. So I automated it as an Aseprite plugin!

Here's a video of how I anti-aliased the duck in the above image. I used to have to manually do this one pixel at a time!

This is going to save me a lot of time when I draw pixel art on future games. I hope you find it useful too!

i just took a look at this plugin's itchio stats for the first time and it has 1111 downloads. not only is that a really satisfying number to look at, it represents a huge amount of people! most of the gig venues i've been to had a much lower capacity than that, and those crowds still felt huge.

i pretty much just made this plugin for myself, barely even considering the possibility that anyone else would be interested in it, so this has been a wonderful surprise. thank you so much to everyone who gave it a try, even bigger thanks to the people who kindly tipped me for it (!!!), and i hope it helped save you a little bit of time when drawing pixel art!
